In a pitchers’ duel between Lakeland’s Saylor Timmerman, an Arkansas Commit, and New London’s Kenna Mix, both teams played a near perfect game in the 1st 7 innings, a base hit by The Thunderbirds Right Fielder Karlin Williams in the 5th.
New London found the bases in the bottom of the 8th when Kenna Mix earned 1st base on balls, and next batter Shelby Glodowski would break up Timmerman’s no hitter ; however the winning run would be left stranded at 3rd.
Saylor Timmerman would reach base on balls in the 10th but was left stranded at 2nd for the Thunderbirds.
The 12th provided what would be the game’s only run when Ellie Winkelman singled in Jensen Mix with 2 outs for the walk off win, Mix had reached on an error by the 3rd baseman. Kenna Mix earned the win Pitching all 12 Innings, allowing 1 Hit, walking 1 and striking out 17. Saylor Timmerman took the loss for Lakeland, going 11 2/3 Innings allowing 2 Hits, 1 Run, 1 Walk and Striking out 23.
The Bulldogs won their 3rd consecutive Regional Championship and will face a familiar playoff foe the Mosinee Indians Tuesday in Mosinee for the Sectional Semi Final.
