Shoreland Lutheran took home a regional championship in Somers with a wild 13-6 score. After RL won a pitchers duel last week 5-1, the two teams combined for 26 hits on Thursday night. After the Crusaders put runners at second and third with 1 out in the top of the first, Shoreland pitcher Erin Borchardt got two strikeouts to end the threat. The Pacers would tally 6 first inning runs highlighted by rbi hits from Jackie Miller and Alyssa Pavlovich. The Crusaders came back in the top of the 2nd, scoring 5 runs on 6 hits keyed by rbi hits from Emilie Lozano and Jenna Beaudin. But the Pacers answered with rbi hits off the bats of Miley Brooks, Aubrey Hart and Pavlovich to push the Pacer lead to 10-5. RL added 1 in the top of the 4th but the Pacers tacked on two more in the bottom of the  4th off Pavlovich's rbi double and an rbi single by Borchardt. The Pacer offense added 1 more in the bottom of the fifth on a rbi sac bunt for the final tally of 13-6.

"This was just an offensive outburst I did not expect to see from both teams.  I am proud of our girls and especially our seniors.  We talk to the team repeatedly about staying level headed through the highs and lows. These girls certainly did that tonight."

Leading the Pacers were Alyssa Pavlovich, 4-4, 2b, 2 runs, 3 rbi, Borchardt 3-3, 2b 1 run, 2 rbi, and Jackie Miller 2-4 , 1 run, 1 rbi. Borchardt got the win going the distance with 6K, 5 ER. Lozano was 4-5, 2 runs, 2 rbi and Beaudin 3-4, 1 run, 1 rbi to lead the Crusaders.

The Crusaders finished the season 14-7 while Shoreland Lutheran moves to 12-5 overall. Shoreland will face Dominican Tuesday at Shoreland High School in the first round of sectionals.
