New London handles Denmark as tournament is on the close horizon

A Pair of Division 2 Heavyweights squared off Friday evening at Salm Partners field in Denmark as they hosted the Bulldogs of New London.

Scoreless until the 5th inning When New London pushed the 1st run across the plate on a bunt play from leadoff hitter Eve Hedtke driving in Erin O’Donoghue who doubled to lead off the Inning. Denmark would score a run in their half of the 5th on a Bloop shot to the outfield from Ashlyn Schultz, despite a threat from Denmark the Bulldogs would get out of the inning and later score 5 runs in the 6th to take a commanding 6-1 lead and hang on for the win. 

Jensen Mix and Bristol Elsholtz each had 2 hits in 4 at bats for the Bulldogs while Kiley Peterson led the Bulldogs with 2 RBI’s. Erin O’Donoghue had the only extra base hit for the Bulldogs with a Double, 8 of the 9 Batters each collected a hit for New London. Denmark was led by Shaelyn Kraschnewski and Ashlyn Schultz with 2 hits in 4 At Bats. Kenna mix Earned the win working all 7 Innings allowing 10 hits, 1 Run and Striking out 5 and walking 2.

Maggie Frank took the loss for Denmark, pitching 5 innings allowing 6 hits, 4 Runs, striking out 6 and Walking 2. Shaelyn Kraschnewski worked the final 2 innings allowing 4 hits, 2 Runs, Striking out 3 and Walking 1.  On opposite sides of the Division 2 playoffs the Vikings will host fellow Northeastern Foe Oconto Falls Tuesday while New London will host Merrill from the Wisconsin Valley Conference.
