Iola-Scandinavia 3, at Weyauwega-Fremont 2

The Iola-Scandinavia softball team beat Weyauwega-Fremont, 3-2, in a CWC-East game. The Thunderbirds improved their conference record to 10-3 and their overall record to 11-7.  The Warhawks dropped to 4-8 in conference and 7-11 overall.

The T-Birds took a 2-0 lead in the third inning.  Brooklyn Berrens hit a two-run double in the inning.  After W-F scored a run in the fourth inning to make the score 2-1, I-S scored what proved to be the winning run in the sixth inning when Abby Isermann's hit to leftfield drove in a run to give the Thunderbirds a 3-1 lead.  The Warhawks scored a run in the seventh, but the T-Bird defense closed the game out, 3-2.

Iola-Scandinavia outhit Weyauwega-Fremont 9-7.  Maci Heschke, Maya Munoz and Ava Printz each had two hits for I-S.  The Thunderbirds left six runners on base while the Warhawks left seven on base.

Pitcher Julia Munoz went the distance to earn the win.  Munoz allowed two walks and had seven strikeouts.  Pitcher Olivia Witkowski pitched all seven innings in taking the loss.  Witkowski allowed one walk and had four strikeouts.
