L-Cats hand Lodi their third conference loss in a week

Lake Mills Take the Lead in Capitol North

Lake Mills travelled to Lodi May 3rd to square off against the Blue Devils in a game pitting the two teams on top of the Capitol North.

Lake Mills won the game handily 13-0 in 5-innings. Seniors Taylor Wollin and Ava Kleinfeldt and junior Savannah Radtke all had a big nights at the plate to led the L-Cats going 3x4. Wollin included a triple and Kleinfeldt a double. Kleinfeldt was also clutch with runners on base driving in 5 RBI’s. Emily Wollin and Payton Quest each added two hits to the 16-hit day by the L-Cats. Kleinfeldt’s big day continued in the circle by throwing a 1-hitter. She gave up no runs and no walks while striking out 5. Lodi’s Baily Stark got the loss. She gave up 13 runs on 16 hits, struck out 1 and walked 2.

“We were laser focused and mentally ready to play right out of the gates.” said coach Jim Clift. “We knew that if we want to win the conference championship, we had to beat Lodi. Our performance was very similar to our win against Sun Prairie East. Ava was red hot in the circle and at the plate, and we were very aggressive on offense with clean, error-free defense. Put those all together and we are difficult to beat. We have a big week in front of us and the only thing that matters to us now is our game tomorrow against Poynette.”

Lake Mills travels to Poynette HS tonight for another conference match-up at 5 PM.
