The Lake Mills record remains unblemished at 10-0 following victories against Lakeside Lutheran and Marshall.

On Tuesday, April 16 they took the short trip to in-town rival Lakeside Lutheran in a Capitol Conference matchup. The L-Cats racked up 14-hits with Payton Quest and Haydenn Sellnow leading the way and mirroring each other with both going 3-for-4 including a double each. Savannah Radtke added two hits. Ava Kleinfeldt moved to 7-0 with the win. She struck out seven and walked none. Lakeside’s Keighton Rank got the loss. She gave up 14-hits, 15 strikeouts, and walked one. Abby Meis led the Warriors hitting going 2-for-4.

After a rain postponement against Poynette last Thursday, Lake Mills travelled to Marshall to face the Cardinals on Monday. They won the Capitol Conference crossover game 4-2. Junior Payton Quest and Sophomore Lily Doerr both went 2-for-3 leading the L-Cat offense. Doerr ripped her second homerun of the season against pitcher Kennedy Weisensel. Ava Kleinfeldt added two more hits. L-Cat junior pitcher Aubrey Lepak earned her third win on the season. She pitched 5-innings and gave up 2-runs on 3 hits and one walk while striking out four. Ava Kleinfeldt earned the save pitching the final two innings and giving up no runs on three strikeouts.

“We struggled against Lakeside chasing the high pitch early. We haven’t struggled with that this year until that game. We corrected it and then hit well the rest of the way out,” said coach Jim Clift. “Tonight, we faced a very solid up-and-coming pitcher for Marshall so it was a good test for us. We did far better laying off the rise ball and picking our pitches.”

Lake Mills hosts Lodi for a matchup between two Capitol Conference unbeatens on Tuesday, April 23 at 5 PM at Rotary Park.
