Waterloo beat Deerfield in their first game of three on Saturday. The final score was 10-0. A seven-run fourth inning salted things away and frehman pitcher Ally Schaumann held off the Demon sticks on a four hitter.
Schaumann fanned seven and walked none in the five-inning mercy run rule game.
Leading hitters for Waterloo were Emma Baumann with two hits, Alix McCarthy with two hits including a double, Calli Davison with two hits including a double and Schaumann with two singles.
The Pirates lost to Mineral Point 6-1 and to Lomira 10-4 in their other two games. No details were available.
Waterloo is looking at five-game week with Palmyra-Eagle, Belleville on Tuesday, a big game with Marshall on Thursday and will finish of the week with a dobuleheader against Randolph in Waterloo on Friday.
