Shoreland Lutheran nips Racine St. Catherine's 2-1

Shoreland managed a 2--1 defensive  win over St Cats Friday night in Somers.

Alyssa Pavlovich led off the home half of the first with a double and Erin Borchardt drove her home to stake the Pacers to a 1-0 first inning lead. In the bottom of the 3rd inning Shoreland took advantage of a 2 out error when Faith Triplett doubled to drive in the Pacers 2nd run. St  Cats led off the 4th inning loading the bases off of consecutive hits and a hit batter. Isabel Sanchez drove in the lone run for the Angels on a sac fly to right field. A strikeout and groundout ended the threat,  leaving the Pacers with a 2-1 lead. 

After a strikeout in the top of the 5th, the Angel's loaded the bases on an error and consecutive hits. Erin Borchardt shut down the threat with consecutive strikeouts.

Borchardt got the win in the circle going 7 innings,  1 ER, 9 K, 6 hits and 1 BB.

"Both teams played exceptional defense given the windy conditions tonight. Our girls continued to show growth  in a close victory," said Shoreland Lutheran's head coach Kelly Hill.

Shoreland Lutheran moved to 5-2 overall (5-0 MCC) while St Catherine's is now 3-3(2-3 in the MCC)
