Germantown beats Brookfield Central 9-2

This game was rain-soaked but completed

Germantown downed Brookfield Central 9-2 in a rain-soaked game in Germantown.  With the win, the Warhawks remained undefeated for the season and a half-game behind Menomonee Falls in the GMC.

Germantown struck first in the bottom of the first as junior SS Kayla Preiss (3-4, 2 HR, 6 RBI, 3 R) drove in junior RF Emmy Coulter (2-4, 2 R, SB) with a ground out. 

The Warhawks tacked on 2 more runs in the 3rd on a solo homer by Preiss and a Brookfield Central throwing error.

After Brookfield Central closed the lead to 3-2 in the 4th, the Warhawks responded with 2 runs in the 5th on RBI singles by Preiss and Julia Sina (2-3, 2 RBI, R, 2 SB) and put the game out of reach with 4 runs in the 6th on back-to-back homers by Preiss and Sina.

Senior CF Maddy Balsiger (2-3, BB, 2 R, 2 SB) also had a multi-hit game for Germantown, as their top 4 hitters combined to go 9-14 with 3 HR and 8 RBI.

Junior pitcher Kylie Otto started the game for the Warhawks, grinding through 3 1/3 innings giving up 2 earned runs on 5 hits and 3 walks with 3 strikeouts.  Senior pitcher Kendal Thomas took over in the circle with 2 runners on and only 1 out in the 4th but got a ground out and flyout to end the inning.  She earned the win, pitching 3 2/3 scoreless innings, giving up only 2 hits and 2 walks, striking out 1.

The Warhawks continue GMC play on Thursday as they travel to West Allis Hale/Central.
