Are we playing by all the rules or are we guessing?

In the past week and half a couple of crazy situations occurred that make for interesting reading.

The latest one was tonight in the state of Wisconsin.

With a runner aboard, the pitcher delivered a pitch that struck the ground in front of the catcher then bounced up a bit and hit the catcher in her knee on her leg guard. From there the ball bounced up into the air and struck the batter on the helmet.

Here is how the umpires ruled.

They called the batter out for interference.

What are your thoughts?

I will recap the earlier situation from this year.

Runner at first base breaks for second on a steal attempt. The pitcher goes through her entire motion but does not deliver the pitch. The runner, now confused stops. The pitcher pivots and raises her throwing arm as if to make a play so the runner gets going again toward second and slides there but ---- the pitcher had thrown to the shortstop who applied a tag in plenty of time.

The umpire called the runner out on the steal attempt.

What do you think about that one?

Here is another one I have seen occur (in an earlier year).

1 out, R1 at first. Pitcher throws the pitch and batter swings and misses. The catcher after having caught it quickly tossed a pop up back out toward the pitcher. The pitcher yells, Mine, Mine Mine so the runner sees the ball in the air and heads back to first but not in time to beat the pitcher's throw to that bag and gets tagged out.

Send all those plays you've never seen before or have only seen once to faspich1@gmail.com and they will get written up.

There are some good games tomorrow (Saturday) statewide.
