Iola-Scandinavia (2-0, 2-1) beat Bonduel (2-1, 4-2) in nine innings on Tuesday, April 9. In the top of the ninth inning, Brylee Jueds scored from third on a bases-loaded fielder's choice hit by Maya Munoz. The Bears went quietly down in order in the bottom of the ninth inning to give the Thunderbirds the victory.
It was truly a pitchers' duel with some very good defensive plays for both teams. Senior pitcher Julia Munoz pitched all nine innings to earn the win for the T-Birds. Munoz walked one batter while striking out nine batters. Hailey Zernicke pitched all nine innings for the Bears in taking the loss. Zernicke allowed one walk, hit one batter while striking out six batters.
Iola-Scandinavia outhit Bonduel 5-3. Ava Printz had two hits for the T-Birds.
