Iola-Scandinavia (1-0, 1-1) broke open a 3-1 game with six runs in the sixth inning to beat Wittenberg-Birnamwood (0-2, 0-3-1) 9-2 in a CWC-East game on Monday, April 8.
The Thunderbirds outhit the Chargers 13-5. Julia Munoz and Maya Munoz each had three hits. Julia Munoz hit a solo homerun while Maya Munoz and Brylee Jueds each had a double. Jueds also drove in three runs in the game. Ava Printz and Brooklyn Berrens each had two hits for the T-Birds.
Sophia Lemieux hit a solo homerun in the fourth inning and had two hits in the game for Wittenberg-Birnamwood.
Senior pitcher Julia Munoz went the distance to earn the win. Munoz allowed three walks while striking out 10 batters.
