Brodhead's Ava Risum got the Division 3 defending champions off to a great start by tossing a no-hitter at Whitewater on March 29th in a 1-0 shutout victory.
Risum threw just 73 pitches, striking out a dozen and being just one batter short of a perfect game. The only baserunner reached on a Brodhead error and was then picked off. That does not constitute a perfect game yet she did face the minimum of 21 batters in getting the victory.
Risum will received a Fastpitch Chronicle No Hitter certificate. Beginning this season no hitter certificates will be available to pitchers record a 7-inning no hitter or more. We will no longer recognize no hitters that are less than 7-innings.
