New London Makes back to back trips to Division 2 Semifinals

New London and Rice Lake squared off Thursday in Mosinee for a trip to the State Tournament, Rice Lake making the Cinderella playoff run coming into the game with a 9-16 Record, Rice Lake a young squad playing in the competitive Big Rivers Conference the Warriors were up for the Challenge against the Bulldogs. Rice Lake playing as the Visiting team would get on the board Early when Ava Anderson Tripled in Madi Rowe and Emily Kalina to take the 2-0 Lead. New London would make the Bottom of the 3rd theirs when Ava Baehman drove in Savannah Schaff and Mackenzie Bruette on a Single down the 3rd Base Line. 2 Batters later with the Bases Loaded Kenna Mix would hit a Grand Slam Home Run off Warriors Sophomore Kamryn Kunz to Centerfield to put the Bulldogs up 6-2. After walking a run in with the Bases Loaded the Warriors opted to change pitchers and bring in Sophomore Lefty Emily Kalina, the offense would continue for the Bulldogs as Ava Baehman would clear the bases with a Grand Slam of her own to go up 11-2.  Rice Lake attempting the comeback would score a run in the Top of the 4th when Veda Stenseth singled in Ava Anderson. New London would push across the game Winning run in the Bottom of the 6th when Eve Hedtke drove in Olivia Hamel to send the Bulldogs to the State Tournament for the 2nd year in a row and the 7th in the last 10 years. Kenna Mix Earned the win for New London allowing 3 Runs 2 Earned, Striking out 4 and Walking 1 in 6 Innings of Work. Ava Baehman had a team high 6 RBI’s. Kamryn Kunz took the loss for Rice Lake splitting the pitching duties with Emily Kalina, The duo Went 5.2 Innings allowing 9 Hits, 13 Runs, Striking out 4 and Walking 5.
