Grantsburg ends Phillips' Season - advances to sectional semi-final

Grantsburg Pirates defeated Phillips 10-0 on Thursday as Whitney Myers and Piper Olson combined to throw a shutout.

In the first inning, Grantsburg Pirates got their offense started when Renee Tooze grounded out, scoring one run.

Grantsburg Pirates put up three runs in the third inning.  Whitney Meyers, Maddie Schafer, and Piper Olson all drove in runs in the frame.

A single by K Weik in the fourth inning was a positive for Phillips.

Whitney Meyers was in the pitcher's circle for Grantsburg Pirates. The fireballer surrendered zero runs on two hits over four innings, striking out six and walking zero. Piper Olson closed the game out going two innings striking out four and walking zero. 

 

Weik started the game for Phillips. The pitcher allowed 12 hits and ten runs over five innings, striking out eight.

 

Grantsburg Pirates smacked one home run on the day. Ruby Rengo had a two run homer in the first inning.

Grantsburg Pirates tallied 12 hits in the game.  Carley Gross, Olson, Megan Schafer, and Rengo each had multiple hits for Grantsburg Pirates.  Gross went 3-for-4 at the plate to lead Grantsburg Pirates in hits.
