Breleigh Ustruck's two-out, two-strike home run in the bottom of the sixth inning plated the winning run. It was the fifth Spartan homer of the day.
Hartford took a 3-0 lead in the top of the first. The Spartans got one back on Paige Guse's second-inning dinger.
Hartford led 4-1 into the bottom of the third. Mia Buske opened the Spartans' third with a single and advanced on Lindsay Sandleback's double. Ava Thelen followed with a three-run blast to left to knot the score.
Eleanor Henschel put West up 5-4 with a leadoff home run in the bottom of the fourth.
Hartford tied it with a run in the top of the fifth. Mackenzie Rolf homered for the Spartans in the bottom of the frame to give her team a 6-5 lead.
Lauren Voss homered for Hartford with two out in the top of the sixth.
Ustruck belted her deep fly over the right-field fence in the bottom of the sixth.
Hartford opened the seventh inning with a single and a walk before a fly out to West second baseman Natali Block. The game ended on a soft liner to Block who doubled up the runner leading off from second.
Sandleback notched the win in the circle. She allowed 10 hits, walked four and struck out five.
The Spartans improved to 21-4 on the season.
