The Pacers found themselves in a 2-0 hole quickly in the first inning but used a big 2nd and 3rd inning to put away Dominican Wednesday in Somers. Shoreland put the first two batters on base with singles and scored the first run off a sac bunt. Haley Voss then tied the game with an rbi single. The PAcers would score 3 more runs in the inning thanks to 3 walks, 1 hit and some fielding issues by Dominican. Amanada Heusterberg led off the 3rd with a single, stole second and later scored. She would cap the 7 run Pacer 3rd with a 3 rbi triple to put the score at 12-2.
Leading Shoreland's offense were Heusterberg 2-2,sac,SB, 2 runs, 3b, 4 rbi, and Grace Olson 3-4, 2b, SB, 1 run, 1 rbi. Erin Borchardt picked up the win going 5 innnings allowing 2 ER on 5 hits with 5 K's
"I was not sure we were ready to play early. But I respect the response after the first inning. We challenge ourselves to make the other team earn every out and I think tonight we did an excellent job of that."
Shoreland is now 9-6 overall (7-4 MCC) and Dominican is 11-10 (5-5 MCC).
