Holly Lowenberg strikes out 14 in six inning game

Poynette erupted with four third inning runs

The Pumas rolled to a win behind the pitching of senior Holly Lowenberg who tossed a nifty two-hitter with 14 ks and no walks. She posted five 1-2-3 innings.

In the Poynette third sophomore Grace Gavinski batting in the 9th spot got things going, with a double and freshman second sacker Addison Mackey moved her along with a single. Senior Brooke Steinhorst then sent them both scampering home with a triple. After a scarifice fly to centerfield off the bat of Lowenberg scored Gavinski sophomore Kassidy McCaffery drew a base on balls. Senior first sacker Laken Wagner's hot bat connected for another single to move McCaffery to second but she was retired on a ground ball to third off the bat of Morgan Gunderson. Sophomore catcher Emma Gavinski then singled, scoring Wagner.

In the Poynette fifth Grace Gavinski laced a single, her second hit of the game and went to second on ball to second by Mackey. After a strikeout Lowenberg sent Gavinski sprinting home with an rbi double.

The Pumas were led at the plate by Grace Gavinski who was 2x3 with the double, Morgan Gunderson 2x3, Addison Mackey had one hit as did Brooke Steinhorst (triple), Lowenberg (double), Wagner with a single and Emma Gavinski singled.

The Pumas travel to Watertown Friday for a matchup with Luther Prep, then play a very good Wilmot team at 10 am Saturday at Diamond of Champions then a game against G-E-T at noon.
