Lakeside Lutheran broke from the gate early scoring two runs in the top of the first and added single markers in the second, third and fourth before Whitewater scored. The Whippets countered with a three-run fourth to make a game of it at 5-3. They added a single run in the fourth to pull to within one at 5-4 in the bottom of the fifth.
That would be all the Whippets could score though and the Warriors got an insurance run in the top of the 7th to get the 6-4 win.
Leading hitters for Lakeside were Grace Cook who went 2x2 while Chloe Berg and Kendall Lemke each doubled. Lakeside collected six hits to just four on the Whippet side.
The winner was Grace Cook on that four-hitter with eight strikeouts and just two walks. The loser was S. Schilt who allowed six hits, struck out three and walked seven.
