The Pumas pitching limited Luther Prep to just three hits, two by the leadoff batter, Delaney Bargenquast en route to the 8-1 win. It was the 8th win of the season for the Pumas and keeps them alone in the Capitol lead, a game ahead of Columbus.

Holly Lowenberg tossed the first three innings and struck out eight of the nine batters she faced. Kassidy McCaffery tossed the final four innings to get the win, allowing one run (earned) and three hits. She struck out five.

The Pumas collected nine hits and were led by Brooke Steinhorst at 3x4 with a double, Morgan Gunderson was 2x4, Lowenberg was 2x4 with a two-run home run, Addison Mackey had single, Alli Ripp doubled. The Pumas struck out nine times.

The Pumas play at Lodi Thursday against a much-improved Blue Devil club that was beaten today, 8-7 by Lakeside Lutheran. The next home game is not until April 27th when the return match with Columbus takes place. In between there are games on Saturday against a pair of strong Division 1 schools in Sun Prairie West and Sussex Hamilton, a team that has been in the WIAA Division 1 state tournament the past two years.

Note: to get a win a starting pitcher must pitch at least half of the innings played (NFHS Rule 9-6-a-1). Also, a pitcher can not be credited with a win and a save.
