A four-run first inning set the tone vs Marshfield

There is a long known statistics that says that in most major league baseball games the winning team scores more runs in a single inning than the losers score in the entire game.

Generally speaking, from our experience within the world of fastpitch softball back into the 1950s the same thing holds true. Today's Wisconsin Valley matchup with Marshfield taking on Stevens Point is an example.

The Panthers erupted with four runs in the bottom of the first en route to the 6-2. win.

Marshfield actually outhit SPASH 6-4 but the first inning says it all.

The winning pitcher was Sauvageau who allowed two runs, both unearned, struck out seven and walked just one. The loser was K. Steinweis who gave up six runs (just one earned), walked half a dozen and struck out two.

The leading hitter in the game was Steinweis trying to help herself out. She went 2x3. Sauvageau doubled in her own cause Pechinski had two rbi for the Panthers.

There were six errors in the game with Marshfield committing four and SPASH having two.
