They also released Player of the Year in each Division, State Coach of the Year and Umpire of the Year

The Wisconsin Fastpitch Coaches Association today released its 2022 All District and All State teams during the annual High School All Star games.

There are five divisions in the state but the coaches association does not name all state players in each of the five divisions. Instead they have a Division 1 All State team, a Division 2&3 All State Team, and a Division 4&5 All State team. They also name a Player of the Year in each of the five divisions.

This year's Player of the Year in Division 1 is senior catcher Emma Raye of Superior. The righthanded hitter with a rocket arm will attend the University of Wisconsin and will play softball for the Badgers. Emma batted .545 through the sectional with 8 doubles, 3 triples and 8 home runs. She drove in 20 runs from the leadoff position in the order and stole 15 bases in as many attempts. The Spartans are located just about as far north in Wisconsin as you can get so getting in games is always an issue. The Spartans were 19-3 on the season

The Division 2 Player of the Year is Jefferson senior shortstop Savannah Serdynski. The slick fielding shortstop batted .714 on the season and helped lead the Eagles to the state championship game. She had 70 hits including 8 doubles and 3 triples. She struck out just 5 times in 98 bats through the sectional level.

The Division 3 Player of the Year is Poynette's junior pitcher Holly Lowenberg. The righthander was 16-2 on the season and led her team to the Capitol North Conference title a regional, sectional and Final 4 berth, finishing it off with two wins at Goodman Diamond to lead Poynette to the Division 3 state title. She pitched in 129 innings, had an era of 1.25, struck out 220 batters, and walked just 12 (several intentionally). She become the 7th Poynette player to be named Player of the Year.

The Division 4 Player of the year is sophomore pitcher Gretta Grassel of Boscobel. She also performed at the plate superbly throughout the season. Statistics for Gretta are not available online.

She pitched 85 innings through the sectional, striking out 109 batters and walking 27. She batted .468 on the year with 8 doubles, 2 triples and one home run. She drove in 23 runs.

Congratulations to all players named WFSCA All District and  All State players this year.

Note: In the original post of this article the number of schools in the five divisions was mentioned and a comparison was unfairly explained for combining Divisions 2&3 and 4&5. Post season WFSCA awards, all star game player numbers etc. are understandably based upon the number of head coaches who join the association each year. Simply comparing the number of WIAA schools that sponsor girls' softball in each division doesn't explain the resulting numbers when it comes to WFSCA post season awards. The association must take into account the total number of head coaches that are members when making decisions on awards.

The reason for combining Division 2 & 3 as well as 4
& 5 is that the numbers are based upon the number of head coaches that are actually members of the WFSCA. If a school's head coach is not a member by each year's cutoff date the players from that  school are not eligible for WFSCA recognition. More coaches need to consider a membership.
