Senior pitcher Naleyah Bork singled to lead off the Freedom 8th inning and moved to second on a great sacrifice bunt by Sadie Jarmolowicz then rightfielder Kierstin Kriewaldt singled to left field send Naleyah home. Bork then retired the side in the Jefferson 8th.
It marks the first-ever state title for a program that has been on the brink of getting to the Final Four over the past decade or more after having been there twice in the 1980s (1986-1987).
There were a total of 16 hits in the game with Jefferson getting nine and Freedom having eight. Marlee Smith had two hits for Freedom and so did Jarmolowicz. Jefferson was led by senior shortstop Savannah Serdynski who went 3x4 including a double. Catcher Aidyn Messmann homered for Jefferson.
