A two-run first inning marked the difference in a 3-1 win

Junior pitcher Ava Schill of Wisconsin Rapids Assumption helped her own cause with a two-out solo shot homer in the bottom of the first inning and the Royals added a second run in the inning when freshman Claire Nelson singled and took second on a wild pitch that actually had struck Lydia Smits out and would have ended the inning. Smits advanced to second when the catcher overthrew to first and Nelson scooted home on that play.

Wisconsin Rapids then scored a single run in the fifth when junior Cristin Casey singled to center the swiped second base. When Schill singled to rightfield it chased Casey home for her second rbi of the game.

Barneveld plated their sole run in the top of the seventh when Nicole Fahey doubled to left center. Madeline Grabrandt subbed in for Fahey and moved to third on a ground out for the second out of the inning. Daelyn Rhoades then singled to to right driving in Grabrandt.

Schill was the winner while allowing three hits, struck out six and walked none. The loser was Daelynn Rhoades who pitched the first inning allowing two runs on two hits and struck out four. Fahey finished up the final five innings, allowing two hits, struck out eight and walked three.

It was the third WIAA title for Wisconsin Rapids Assumption.
