3-run sixth leads to victory -- Riley Grudzielanek collapes on third base line after the final out

Oak Creek looked to be in trouble as they headed to the bottom of the sixth inning. They were trailing the #7 seeded Hamilton 2-1.

Oak Creek got on the board in the bottom of the first when Grudzielanek walked with one out. Ali Scrobis was inserted as a courtesy runner for the pitcher. Junior SS Madisen Noll drew a base on balls from Hamilton pitcher Mya Schneider putting runners on one and two. Catcher Brianna Rickert followed with a bouncer up the middle scoring Scrobis with the lead run.

Hamilton countered with two runs in the top of the third when junior outfielder Sydney VandeHei walked and moved to second on a sacrifice bunt by Lauren Bickler. Riley Slaats then singled up the middle chasing VandeHei home with the tying run. A bunt single by Ni9cole Gelfhi scoring Slaats for the lead.

The game remained 2-1 until the fateful sixth for Hamilton. The third time through the lineup saw Madison Hoagland reach on a bunt single to the pitcher. Grudzielanek flew out to center. When Noll ripped an rbi double Hoaland sprinted home with the tying run. There was a throwing error on when the ball returned to the infield. Rickert then doubled to rightcenter scoring Noll. Katie Weins entered for Rickert.

Hamilton made a pitching change at that point bringing in Haley Dwyer. First sacker Olivia Josten the doubled to deep center scoring Weins with the third run.

Grudzielanek fanned 14 on a two-hitter and walked four. She caused concern after the game when she apparently passed out while crossing the third baseline on the way to celebrate. She was caught by a couple of teammates and laid to the surface where medical people took care of her. She did walk off the field later while being assisted.

Leading hitters for Oak Creek were Meggin Hoagland with a 3x3 game while Rickert went 2x3.
