Iola-Scandinavia (9-3, 15-6) beat Shiocton (5-7, 7-11), 8-3 in the final conference and regular game of the season. Both teams will play each other again on Tuesday, May 24 in a regional semi-final game at Iola.
The Thunderbirds scored three runs in the first inning and added four more runs in the fourth inning. The T-Birds outhit the Chiefs 14-9. Marin Hoyord had three hits and one RBI. Alexa Christoph, Jadyn Krusa, Makayla Much and Chloe Timdal each had two hits with Timdal also drove in two runs.
Pitcher Julia Munoz went the distance to pick up the win. Munoz allowed three walks and had no strikeouts.
