Almond-Bancroft (20-1, 11-1) scored the go ahead run in the top of the eighth inning and held Iola-Scandinavia (14-6, 8-3) scoreless in the bottom half to take a 4-3 non-conference win on Monday night. The Thunderbirds had a chance in the sixth inning to score the go ahead run, but left a runner stranded on third.
The Eagles outhit the T-Birds 11-7. For the T-Birds, Maddie Much had three hits and drove in a run while Alexa Christoph had two hits. Myah Heschke and Clara Koles had a double.
Pitcher Julia Munoz pitched all eight innings in taking the loss. Munoz walked one and struck out three.
