The Lake Mills L-Cats blistered a whopping 19 hits against the Lakeside Lutheran Warriors in the final regular season conference match-up between the two Capitol North Teams on Friday, May 13th. The big inning of the game came in the 3rd when Lake Mills scored 6 runs spearheaded by a 3-run homer by McKenna Grossman, doubles by Payton Quest and Emily Wollin, and a single by Taylor Wollin. Leading hitters for the game were Taylor Wollin (4x5), Quest and Grossman (both 3x4), Belle Topel (3x5), and finally Haydenn Sellnow and Tessa Kottwitz (2x5). Topel also added her 5th HR of the year by smashing a monster towering solo in the 6th. Sophomore pitcher Ava Kleinfeldt earned another win in the circle. She pitched all 7 innings, allowed 2 runs on 8-hits, struck out 9 and zero walks. “We had our mojo tonight and it showed. We came into the game relaxed and confident and played that way all game. Ava pitched great against a very good hitting team and our defense and bats backed her up. I’m extremely pleased with our mindset all year regardless of the circumstances of the game.” said coach Jim Clift
