A combination of timely hitting and taking advantage of several miscues allowed Iola-Scandinavia (6-3, 11-3) to beat Amherst (5-4, 9-6) 12-2.
The game was stopped in the fifth inning due to the ten-run rule. The Falcons had eight errors while the Thunderbirds had no errors and played solid defense.
The T-Birds outhit Amherst 10-4. Clara Koles had three hits including a double and three RBI's. Alexa Christoph had a two-run homerun in the second inning. Myah Heschke had a two-run single in the first inning. Makayla Much had a one-run double in the fifth inning.
Pitcher Maddie Much pitched all five innings to earn the win. Much allowed only four hits, no walks and had one strikeout.
