Shoreland Lutheran Took Down More Softball

The Shoreland Pacer softball team improved to 8-3 on the season and 5-3 in the MCC with a 14-4 win in 6 innings on Thursday.

The Cavaliers took the early 3-0 lead in the bottom of the first plating their first 3 batters. Shoreland answered with a 4 run second on rbi singles by Haylee Dodd and Grace Olson. TM added 1 in the bottom of the second to tie the game at 4. It was all Pacers after that. Erin Borchardt hit a 2 out rbi single in the 4th to give tha Pacers the lead. Shoreland added 3 in the 5th and 6 more in the sixth. The defense shut the door after the 2nd inning, allowing only 2 more hits.

Dodd led the Pacers at 3-5, 2B, 3 runs, 2rbi, Olson 2-2, 2 runs, 2 rbi, Olivia Miller 3-4, 2B, 3 runs, 1 rbi, and Amanda Heusteberg 2-4, 2B, 3 runs, 1 rbi. Erin Borchardt got her 7th win of the season, coming in relief to pitch 5 innings, 1 ER, 5 hits, 3 BB. Hailey Voss added 2 outfiled assists defensively, including a double play.

Lilly Rechlitz was 2-2, 2 runs, 2 SB, 2 BB and Gracie Mommer was 2-4, 2B, 1 run, 2 rbi to lead the Cavs.

"We kept our composure today to hold off a hot start by Thomas More tongiht. Both teams had a great approach and made the defense earn every out. This is the first time I can remember neither team having a strikeout."

Shoreland traveled to Dominican Friday while Thomas More (5-5 overall, 3-5 MCC) hosted Martin Luther.
