The Spartans are running the gauntlet this week, facing sixth-ranked (WisSports.net/Wisconsin Fastpitch Softball Coaches Association poll) Arrowhead and seventh-ranked Cedarburg, followed on Friday by unbeaten Beaver Dam.

The Spartans scored a solo run in the sixth inning and three in the seventh to cut a 6-0 deficit to 6-4 at Arrowhead, and had two runners on when the final out was made.

Mackenzie Rolf went 2-for-3 for West. Jessie Reich had an RBI double in the seventh inning and Mia Buske followed with a two-run single.

The Spartans scored twice in the second inning at Cedarburg before giving up an unearned run in the bottom of the second and solo runs in the third and fifth innings to trail 3-2 before an eight-run sixth inning for Cedarburg.

Veda Selin started and finished in the circle for the Spartans, allowing four runs (three earned) and striking out two with no walks.

West turned 5-3-2-4 triple play in the game.
