Shoreland Lutheran beat Martin Luther 4-3 on Thursday

Shoreland Luther softball moved to 4-3 overall and 3-3 in MCC with a 9-4 victory over Martin Luther Thursday in Greendale. It came on the heals of a 9-5 loss to the Spartans Tuesday in a game that saw Martin Luther accumulate 13 hits.

THursday's game saw Shoreland jump out to a 2-0 lead in the top of the first. After 2 reached base on walks,  Kaylee Ruiz knocked in 2 runs with a base hit. Martin Luther answered with back to back doubles in the bottom of the inning Julia Lokker and Maddie Janetzke to make the score 2-1 Pacers. Shoreland added 2 more in the 3rd on an rbi groundout and an rbi double by freshmen catcher Alyssa Pavlovich. The 4th saw the Pacers blow open the game with a 4 run tally started by 3 walks adn followed by 3 consecutive hits by Borchardt, Ruiz, and Olivia Miller. The Spartans would add 3 in the 6th but the Pacers added an insurance run in the 7th after a 2 out double by Haylee Dodd and an rbi single from Grace Olson.  Dodd finished 2-3, 2B, 2 runs, SB, Grace Olson 2-4, 2B, 2 runs, 1 rbi, and Ruiz added 3 hits, 1 run, 4 rbi on the night. Erin Borchardt pitched 6 innings for the win, scattering 6 hits, 0 BB, 6 Ks and only 2 ER.

Martin Luther fell to 5-1 overall and a league leading 5-1 in the MCC.

"I thought we had a better approach at the plate than the last 2 games and forced Martin Luther to make outs in the field. This was a great confidence buidler for us."

Martin Luther plays 2 at Lake Mills Friday while the Pacers of Shoreland will travel to Luther Prep Friday at 430.
