On a cold, scattered snow shower day the girls from Cambridge took on those who attend Lakeside Lutheran High School in Lake Mills.
The winning pitcher was Grace Cook who scattered four hits, including a double by her counterpart, Emma Nottestad who allowed 13 hits, 9 runs of whicn 7 were earned, walked 3 and even fanned 10 Warrior batters. Cook meanwhile allowed the four hits, one run and it was earned, issued two free passes and struck out the same number.
Leading hitters for Lakeside Lutheran, an always strong Capitol North Division club were Kenda; Leake at 3x3 and a double, Abby Meis was 2x4 with a two-bagger, Chloe Berg was 2x4 and Nora Statz homered and went 2x2.
Comments from Head Coach Matt Doering:
"Nora Statz had another great night at the plate. She hammered a 2 run Homer to center in the first inning to get us going. Kendal Lemke had a great night right behind her with 3 hits. The top of the order did a great job getting on and getting around to score.
Grace Cook had a very nice first start of the year in the circle. She kept the hitters off balance and our defense played great behind her.
This was a great way to finish off a 3-0 week."
