After two scoreless innings, Mishicot flexed their muscles with four runs in the third inning and powered their way past Iola-Scandinavia, 8-2, to claim the sectional championship and advance to the state tournament. Kally Krueger hit a three-run homerun in the third inning to spark the Indians.
Mishicot scored four more runs on five hits in the fifth inning to take an 8-0 lead. The Indians outhit the T-Birds 11-3 Kally Krueger, Kasy Herrera, Ashlyn Bennin and Cora Stodola each had two hits. Krueger finished the game with four RBI's.
Iola-Scandinavia scored their two runs in the sixth inning when Makayla Much hit a two-run homerun.
Mishicot pitcher Ashlyn Bennin went the distance to earn the win. Bennin allowed one walk and had two strikeouts. Thunderbird pitcher Lizzie Jones went the distance in taking the loss. Jones allowed one walk and struckout one batter.
Mishicot improved their overall record to 22-3 and Iola-Scandinavia ended their season at 19-10.
