Will face Poynette in Sectional Semi-Final Monday

An offensive explosion in 5th inning coupled with another excellent night on the mound by senior Taylor Roughen secured a victory for Lake Mills over Cambridge to take home a second consecutive regional championship.

The L-Cats struggled early at the plate and fell behind 1-0 in the 1st inning on a solo homer by Kaylee Roidt. The tight score held through 5 innings until Ava Klienfelt got things going with a hard double off the fence. Taylor Wollin then hit a line drive to score Kleinfelt and tie the game. Key hits by Tessa Kottwitz and a double by Roughen drove in two more runs. A single by Avery Chilson and another double by Klienfelt broke the game open moving the score to 7-1.

Cambridge managed another run in the 6th inning. Taylor Roughen struck out three of the five batters in the top of the 7th to end the game. Roughen finished the game with 14 K’s, 4 hits, and no walks. Cambridge’s Nottestad struck out 2, walked 2, and gave up 9-hits.

Leading hitters for Lake Mills were Ava Klienfelt and Tessa Kottwitz each with 2-hits. The L-Cats will host Poynette at Rotary Park in Lake Mills for the Sectional Semifinals.
