Taylor Roughen Strikes Out 19 as Lake Mills beats Dodgeland/Hustisford
Taylor Roughen was one hit away from a perfect game in the regional semi-final contest against Dodgeland/Hustisford.
Lake Mills won the game 9-0. Roughen helped her own cause by going 2-for-3 at the plate with a 2 run homerun in the 4th inning.
The L-Cats offense scored 4 of their 9 runs in the 4th inning and there was no looking back as they had 15 total hits.
Leading the way was all-conference senior outfielder Ellie Evenson at 3-for-3. Tessa Kottwitz was 3-for-4 and Roughen, Taylor Wollin, and Belle Topel each added 2-hits apiece.
Roughen pitched all seven innings, had no walks, and allowed just the one single in the first inning for the near perfect game. Her 19 strikeouts puts her at 241 K’s for the year with only 8 walks, 4 of which were intentional.
The Capitol Conference North Champions will face off against the Cambridge Blue Jays for the Regional Championship at 5 PM Wednesday at Rotary Park in Lake Mills.
Poynette 8, Marshall 0
Holly Lowenberg twirled a two-hitter with 17 strikes and one walk and hit a grand slam home run to help her own cause in a win over rival Marshall. Lowenberg struck out the first 12 Cardinal batters before yeilding a pop up to her and issuing the walk then fanned the next two batters. Peyton Kingsland homered immediately after Lowenberg's blast and junior Abby Klink had a great day going 4x4. Brooke Steinhorst had two hits including a double for the Pumas. Seniors Maysa Clemens and Allana Borgen each had two hits for Poynette from the #8 and $9 spots in the order.

Randolph's Sophomore Jose Spors and Freshman Macy Kohlbeck combined on a no hitter.
