Shoreland softball took a 4-3 victory over conference foe Burlington Catholic Central Tuesday to move to 8-3 in the MCC and 9-4 overall.  The win ended a 3 game losing skid for the Pacers. Catholic Central is now 6-5 in the MCC and 11-6 overall.

The Hilltoppers led off the game by scoring the first two batters of the game via an error and a triple off the bat of Grace Peterson. Peterson then came home on a double steal attempt of 1st and 3rd. The Pacers defense stiffened from there on allowing only 3 hits the rest of the game and surrendering a run in the 7th.

Shoreland Lutheran got on the board right away in the bottom of the 1st as Haley Dodd led off with an infield single and stole second base. With 2 outs Erin Borchardt knocked Dodd in with an rbi double. Shoreland would take the lead in the bottom of the 3rd as the top of the lineup made its mark again. Dodd led off with a triple and scored on Camryn Mulligans rbi single. Mulligan scored the go ahead run on a double steal attempt to move the score to 3-2 Pacers. After leaving the bases loaded with only 1 out in the 4th, Shoreland scored it's 4th run in the 5th without the aid of a hit. Mulligan led off with a walk and was sacrificed to second by a bunt by Allie Neumann. After a wild pitch, Borchardt added her second rbi on a groundout to the right side of the infield. BCC scored it's last tally in the 7th after a leadoff double by Cate Debell. She would later score on another first and third situation in which the Pacers tagged out the other baserunner in a rundown for the second out of the inning.

Dodd was 2-3 with 1 SB, 3b and 2 runs. Mulligan 1-2 with an rbi, 2runs, SB and a BB, and Borchardt 1-3 with a 2b, and 2 rbi. Mulligan got the win in the circle going all 7 innings, allowing 3 runs, 2 ER, 1 K, 3 BB and 5 hits.

"We had some growing pains late last week and it looked like they were going to continue at the onset of the game.  But the girls dug in tonight with a great defensive effort.  I haven't coached many games where the defense has to secure 26 of 27 outs. But BCC put the ball in play and we responded.  I really feel good that this young team is headed in the right direction."
