Hartford broke the game open with a seven-run fifth inning.
Lindsey Sandleback gave the Spartans a 1-0 lead in the top of the first, driving in Makenna Gish. Hartford answered with two unearned runs in its half of the frame. It remained 2-1 until the bottom of the fifth.
Gish singled in the sixth ahead of Ava Thelen's two-run home run.
