Top Ranked Lake Mills sweeps Johnson Creek

Final Scores were 7-0 and 13-1, Taylor Roughen had a great day

Taylor Roughen threw a gem for Lake Mills on Saturday allowing zero runs and besting Johnson Creek by a score of 7-0.

Roughen was the winning pitcher allowing just one hit and zero runs over seven innings, striking out 14 and walking zero.

Lake Mills secured the victory thanks to four runs in the fifth inning. Belle Topel and Syd Schwartz both moved runners across the plate.  Roughen capped off another spectacular day with a home run the sixth inning and went 3-for-4 at the plate. Roughen, junior center fielder Tessa Kottwitz, and senior right fielder Ellie Evenson each racked up multiple hits for Lake Mills. Bella Herman took the loss for Johnson Creek. She allowed nine hits and seven runs over six innings, striking out five.

In game two, the L-Cats jumped out to an early lead to defeat Johnson Creek 13-1. Avery Chilson hit a double and Syd Schwartz and Ava Kleinfelt each hit singles in the first inning as well. Lake Mills continued to hit the ball hard and scored five runs in the fourth inning led by a triple by Roughen, and a key single by Evenson. The L-Cats had 11-hits led by Evenson going 3-for-3 at the plate.

Avery Chilson notched the win pitching the full 5-inning game. She allowed 5-hits and one run while striking out three. Defensively, Lake Mills had no errors in the game. Hailey Kyalheim took the loss for Johnson Creek. Bella Herman led the Blue Jays at the plate going 2-for-3.
