Oak Creek makes huge statement in Stevens Point

Wins over Kimberly and Stevens Point solidify the rankings

SPASH hosted Onalaska, Kimberly and Oak Creek today in a four team event

Oak Creek, ranked second the WFSCA Coaches Poll and fifth in the Fastpitch Chronicle rankings made a bold statement today when they defeated Kimberly and Stevens Point.

Game 1 - Oak Creek 7, Kimberly 4
The first game they played was agasnst Kimberly where two Oak Creek pitchers shared duties in the circle. Haley Griffin started the game working the first 3 1/3 innings allowing two hits, walked four and struck out five. She gave way to Riley Grudzielanek with two down in the fourth and Oak Creek holding the lead. Grudzielanek worked the remainder of the game allowing one hit, and struck out six to get the save. 

Oak Creek was led at the plate by Sierra Kilbourn with two hits, two runs scored, and two stolen bases; Madisen Noll had a double and two rbi and Grudzielanek added hits, while Amber Behr had two hits including a double and two runs batted in.

Kimberly with a second game win over Onalaska is now 8-6 on the season. 

Game 2 - Oak Creek 5, SPASH 2
In the second game the opponent was Stevens Point. Grudzielanek was in the circle all the way in that game. 

Oak Creek struck early with two runs in the top of the first then added three in the third. SPASH battled in the bottom of the third, scoring a run to make it a 5-1 game. In the sixth the Panthers got one more run to cut the Oak Creek lead to 5-2 but Grudzielanek closed them out. She allowed four hits, walked one and sent 15 Panthers back to the dugout with their bats in their hands. 

The losing pitcher was Slowinski who went 2 1/3 innings, allowed five runs (all earned), walked one and struck out two before getting relief help from Sauvageau who finished up the final 4 2/3 allowing three hits, walking one and striking out two. 

 Sierra Kilbourn had two hits fro Oak Creek as did  Natalie Fields and scored twice. Emma Schmidt added two hits while drove in two runs with a single. 

Shortstop R. Pechinski had two hits for SPASH with one of the rbi while first sacker Z. Fink had the other rbi for SPASH.

 
Oak Creek boosted their record to 17-1 with the two wins today while SPASH drops to 10-4 as they beat Onalaska in their first game today.
