Homestead took advantage from some loose defensive play in the fifth inning today in a game against Port Washington and junior pitcher Ashley Zygowski who struck out 16 in the loss.
Zygowski has 92 total strikeouts this year in 47 innings pitched. Zygowski held the Highlanders to 6 hits with 2 earned runs.
The Pirates had five hits. Tessa Egerer went 2 for 3 with two singles. The Pirates will wrap up the week with Whitefish Bay at home on Thursday at 4:30 p.m.
