Bolded Teams are on In Consideration -- or at least they were before these games

Hello Fastpitch Fans,

Here is a look at the games from yesterday that involved teams we were considering for a Top 20 spot in Division 1 and a Top 15 spot in Divisions 2 through 5.

Have a look

Trying to rank teams after losing out on an entire year of action and receiving so few preseason outlooks from the 420+ softball programs within the state (WIAA) has been really tough for the rankers. Looking at the results from 2019 does not work because of graduation and the fact that the sophomores lost a freshman season and few people know much about incoming 9th graders. One kid in the circle no matter her age makes a somewhat weak team really tough. A low producing offense can win games with a run or two when their chucker strikes out 12, 13 or more. When the pitcher fans 13 or more a suspect defense gets much tougher because they only have to make 6 or 7 defensive outs. A team can boot a ball here or there and still win, especially against teams of equal strength to begin with or a slightly weaker team. Against a better team the often lose a game when they boot one or two of those 6 or 7 mandatory defensive plays.

When I look at ranking teams I check the winners and losers and how many runs they give up. Most of the time I have no clue as to how many errors were committed and I also do not know if a coach inserted a #2 or #3 pitcher with a comfortable lead. Coaches with more than one pitch thrower often do just that while coaches with just one chucker have to stick with the kid in the circle for fear chaos occurring (I have been on both sids of that -- most recently in 2014 and it cost us a conference title).

Rankers are really subjective but are good for fan interest. Interest is what we need all the time and there is no such thing as too much interest. With the Fastpitch Chronicle the objective is to give the true fastpitch people a steady diet of information. It’s a one-person and a no-profit operation at the Fastpitch Chronicle in terms of producing text to read. Thank goodness for the very few coaches and fans that do stay in touch. They are the real faspitch enthusiasts.

Here is a list of games from Tuesday that involved all the teams on the Fastpitch Chronicle IN CONSIDERATION LIST to be possibly ranked.
