The Poynette (PFO) Crush 16-U team went unbeaten in four games to claim the title of the 16/17U Division of the 2019 Poynette Fastpitch Jamboree held over the weekend of June 14-16. The Crush defeated the West Bend Nitros 10-0 on Friday then followed that up on Saturday morning with a come-from-behind victory over the Fondy Fusion by a score of 5-4. Casey Fountain got the win in both of those games. On Saturday evening Fountain again toed the pitcher's plate and held off the Poynette Summer Pumas 8-4. The Pumas scored four runs in the final inning of a different pitcher than Fountain. On Sunday in the championship the Crush outlasted the Fondy Fusion for the second time in two days, this time by a score of 3-1. For the Fondy Fusion the title game marked its third game as they toppled 608 Fastpitch based out of Portage in an 8-inning international tie-breaker as catcehr Lauren Heisdor of Campellsport took a Paige Edwards offering into the gap in right center with runners on second and third to claim the walk-off victory. Edward had held off a good hitting Fusion team throughout the game. The Fusion then took care of the Summer Pumas 10-1 to advance to the title game.
In the 14-U division the Poynette Velocity went 4-0 to claim the title by beating the Lake Shore Rise-Sorenson 6-2. Lake Shore had picked up a win over the Popnette Blaze to advance to the title game.
In the 12-U Division the Wisconsin Outlawz from the Jefferson/Lake Mills area battled back from a loss the day before to the Minooka Magic of northern Illinois to win against the MArshall Fury for the right to battle with Minooka Magic. They beat them twice to claim the title. The Outlawz are coached by former Marshall and Monona Grove head coach Bruce Wuchterl.
At the 10-U level where four teams took part the Wisconsin X-Plozion bested Middleton 10-U Red to win the bracket play of the tournament.
The 2020 Poynette Summer Jamboree will once again be played the third weekend of June and will go back to a pool play format and will be open to the first 42 teams to enter.
