Top Ranked teams advance

In Division 1 Top Ranked Oshkosh North advanced to the sectional final. Head Coach Ken Dischler's team beat Fond du Lac 4-0 avenging a stunning defeat a year ago. Here is the recap.

Sydney Supple struck out 15 Cardinals, tossing a four-hitter as the Spartans advanced to the sectional title game.

Supple doubled in the first inning and later scored on a wild pitch.

Mathena Higgins led off the third with  walk, advanced on Brooke Ellestad's single and scored on a base hit by Supple.

Supple drew a two-out walk in the fifth ahead of Libby Neveau's two-run bomb over the left field fence.

Supple and Ellestad each had two of the Spartans' eight hits.

Oshkosh West set up a crosstown matchup with North when they beat Slinger 11-0. Oshkosh West exploded for a 10 run third inning aided by HRs from Brianna Geis and Emily Miller. 

Annika Johnson pitched another gem of a game shutting down Slinger's very potent offence scattering only 4 hits and striking out 7 in a 5 inning shutout.

Sectional final will be Thursday in Hartford;  a rematch of Oshkosh West and number one ranked Oshkosh North.

In Stevens Point the Panthers advanced to the sectional final with a 10-0 win over Wisconsin Rapids. A four-run burst in the first inning set the tone for the game with six more runs being scored in the fourth and fifth innings with the game ending on the mercy rule.

In Sun Prairie the Cardinals rode the pitching and hitting of the 2018 Division 1 Player of the year, Maddie Gardner as the Cardinals nipped Onalaska 3-2, Gardner fanned 15 and homered in the 4th inning. Down one with two outs in the bottom of the seventh, Sabrina Reuter knocked in the tying and winning runs in walk off fashion.

In Verona the Wildcats also won in a tight one, downing DeForest 3-2. Alyssa Bostley drove in runs with singles in the first and third innings.

Wilmot bumped out Oregon 3-1 with a three-run fifth inning.

In Division 2 Monroe took down defending champion and top ranked Whitnall 7-4 as Olivia Bobak fanned 16.

McFarland outlasted Evansville 8-5 

Merrill sent Mosinee packing with an 8-0 win to set up a game against unbeaten Ellsworth.

In Division 3 defending state champion and top ranked Poynette beat conference foe Lake Mills 8-9 behind a two-hit, 15 strikeout day by junior pitcher Casey Fountain who also went 2x3 with a double. Junior outfielder Lucy Cuff went 4x4 with a double and triple with three rbi. Molly Anderson went 2x3. 

In Division 4 Wisconsin Heights outlasted Mineral Point in nine innings 5-4. Jada Wood homered to centerfield with two outs and a 3-2 count in the bottom of the ninth to propel Heights to the sectional final.
