Shoreland Lutheran rolls to another win

Shoreland Lutheran got another come from behind win Tuesday night in Greenfield to finish out conference play.  The Pacers win over Martin Luther pushed them to 12-2 in the Metro Classic.  They await Racine Lutheran completing their final 3 games to determine the champ of the MCC. Racine Lutheran  sits at 10-1 in conference play.  

ML Spartans got on the board first with back to back 2 outs hits in the bottom of the first. Autumn Kopac singled and scored on Abby Hafemann's double to give the Spartans a 1-0 lead. Shoreland got on the board in the 4th when Victoria Miller reached on a fielders choice and advanced to second on a wild pitch.  Bree James knocked her in with a 2 out rbi to right center to even things at 1-1.  Martin Luther quickly answered. Kopac would double off the left field fence and Hafemann did the damage agian hitting a home run over the left center fence to make the score 3-1 after 4.  The Pacers would claim the lead for good in the 5th. Olivia Mooney, Emily Jones and Haylee Dodd hit consecutive singles to load the bases.  Kelsey Hill knocked in Mooney with a single and Miller would hit a double to deep right center to clear the bases and give SL the 5-3 advantage. The Pacers added 3 insurance runs in the top of the 7th. Haylee Dodd reached on a single and Hill on a fielders choice.  Miller would single home Dodd and Hill scored on a wild pitch.  Allie Neumann then singled to drive home Miller for the final tally.  The Pacers defense stiffened the final 3 innings to give the Pacers the 8-3 victory.

Leaders were Jones 2-3, 1 run, BB, Hill 2-4, 2 runs, 1 rbi, triple, and Miller 2-4, 2 runs, 4 rbi, 2B.  HIll worked all 7, allowing 3 ER, 5 hits, 1 BB and 11 strikeouts.  ML leaders were Kopac 2-3, 2 runs, 2b, and Hafemann 2-2, 1 run, 3 rbi, 2b, HR. Kopac took the loss in the circle for ML.

"We came back today and did just a great job with our energy.  Kelsey did a great job of mixing pitches and our defense did the rest.  Victoria really set the tone for us at the plate.  I was very pleased with the girls taking care of business the last 2 weeks to keep us in this conference race."

Shoreland split a twinbill of games on Monday night at Kettle Moraine Lutheran.  The Pacers won game 1 over Lake Country Lutheran 15-7 and dropped the second game to host KML 11-1. Shoreland finishes the regular season at 15-6 and will host a regional game on Tuesday May 21 as the 1 seed.
