Pums hit four home runs in the first game and 3 doubles

Wins were the 21st and 22nd of the season

Poynette hitters unleashed a barrage of hits in the first side of a twinbill on their home field in front of a good Youth Night crowd. Junior Mollie Blochwitz got the first one over the leftfield fence and Peyton followed suit with a back-to-back homer over the same spot. Later Lucy Cuff launched a bomb over the scoreboard and Molly Anderson followed that one immediately thereafter with a matching dinger. The Pumas also had three doubles as Cuff collected a pair of those to go 3x4 in the game with eight total bases.

Casey Fountain toyed with a perfect game before a dropped pop up between home and first ended that chance. The next batter then singled up the middle to take a chance at a no-hitter away from her. She fanned 13 and walked none in the victory.

Other leading hitters included Brianna Kowald at 2x5, Fountain was 21x4; while Mara Millard doubled halfway up the leftcenter field chain link. Anderson finished 2x4 while other hits came from Ashley Hellenbrand, Morgan Jones, Zoie Ramberg and Brianna Schulz.

In the second half of the twinbill the Pumas cruised to a 14-0, five-inning aided by a lot of free passes and 10 hits. There was only one extra base hit, that a double by Anderson who went 3x3 and 5x7 on the day. Cuff went 2x3 and was also 5x7 in the doubleheader. Morgan Jones kept her bat sizzling with a 2x3 game. Other his were collected by Peyton Kingsland, Ashley Hellenbrand and Zoie Ramberg.

The win went to Molly Anderson as she replaced Fountain in the third inning. Fountain tossed two scoreless innings and 9 on the day. Anderson allowed 4 hits and walked none.

The Pumas host Columbus on Friday in battle of Capitol North rivals. They then close out the conference season on the 14th with a trip to Lake Mills.

The two victories today clinched the school's 26th conference championship since the program was founded in 1979.
