Shoreland sweeps DH with Thomas More/ Hill throws perfect game

 

Shoreland Lutheran won 2-0 and 5-0 to sweep DH action vs Thomas More Tuesday in Somers.  

The Pacers got on the board in the 2nd inning of game one when Victoria Miller lead off with a base hit. Neumann sacrificed her to second and Bree James knocked her home with a single.  The Pacers would add an insurance run in the 4th when Miller led off with a double.  James again got the rbi to push the score to 2-0.  Kelsey Hill picked up the win going 5 innings, 3 hits, 0 runs, 0 BB and 9 strikeouts.  James had 2 hits and 2 rbi and Miller had 2 hits and 2 runs to account for the offense.

In the second game, the Pacers got on the board in the 4th inning. A leadoff walk and a groundout put Allie Neumann at second.  Neumann then scored on a throwing error to first.  The Pacers had a big 5th inning to break the game open. Emily Jones reached on a 1 out hit and the next batter reached on error.  Hill would knock in Jones and Victoria Miller followed with an rbi single.  Bree James completed the scoring by knocking in 2 with a single.  Hill shut the door on TM in the second game by pitching a 5 inning perfect game. She finished with 5 innings, 0 hits, 0 walks, and 7 strikeouts to lead the way in the circle.

Leaders in the second game were Jones, 2 hits, 1 run 2 SB, and  James 2 hits and 2 rbi.

"We battled all night with great defense on a night that saw two great pitchers go head to head.  What a night Kelsey had in the circle.  She really turned in one of her best performances going 15 up 15 down in the second game. It was a great ending to Senior night" . On the night, Hill earned her 50th career win while also surpassing 500 strikeouts.  

"We have a young team.  But the poise from seniors like Hill and Katie Fink as our captains really has set a great example for those girls to learn from.  I am so honored to have these two girls as Pacers for the past 4 seasons."

Shoreland is now 11-5 overall and 9-2 in the MCC. Next on the schedule is Racine St Cats on Thursday.
