In a non-conference game played in Westfield, Poynette came away with the victory. The Pumas got one in the first on a Lucy Cuff home run to dead centerfield but the Pioneers knotted it up in the bottom half of that inning on a bloop, rbi single by starting pitcher Trista Drew.

The Pumas unloaded on the Pioneers in the top of the second when Ashley Hellenbrand drew a base on balls and Molly Anderson moved her to second on a sacrifice bunt. When Morgan Jones doubled Hellenbrand raceed home to make the score 2-1.

In the bottom half of the second the Pioneers threatened when Kim Sengbusch singled and would have scored as with two outs catcher Taylor Bignell hit a hit towering shot that drove centerfielder Mollie Blochwitz back close to the fence in center. Blochwitz made an excellent catch as she was falling toward the chain link to end the inning. That final time the Pioneers threatened as they garnered just two baserunners off Poynette pitching through the third, fourth and fifth innings.

Meanwhile the Pumas scored nine third inning runs with the big blows being a two run homer by Fountain, a follow-that-up double by Cuff (her second extra base hit in as many at bats),  and doubles by Hellenbrand and Morgan Jones, her second in a row. That ended the scoring for the game as Hannah Hockerman pitched the fourth and fifth for Westfield allowing no runs on one hit, hit one batter and fanned five although one of those victims scooted to first base on the pitch in the dirt that was swung on.

Molly Anderson toed the pitcher's plate to start the game for the Pumas and also tossed the fourth inning. In between Ashley Hellenbrand threw the second inning while Casey Fountain pitched the third and fifth innings.

The Pumas moved 14-0 on the season. They were scheduled to play Merrill and Monona Grove on Saturday but the weather forecast caused that event to be cancelled.
