The Pacers comeback came up just a little short Thursday night in Somers.  Playing in their third consecutive night, Shoreland took a 1-0 lead in the 4th inning when Victoria Miller led off with a single and scored on an error later in the inning.  Racine Lutheran answered in the top of the 5th.  Walek led off with a single to right and then scored on the play as the ball got through the right fielder and to the fence. Hoover followed with a triple but the Pacers defense stepped up to strand her and keep the score at 1-1.  Rae Lue got 3 in the top of the 6th when Calla Bixler hit a one out solos homerun to left. After consecutive hits, a slow groundout to first and a dropped flyball allowed 2 more runs across the plate. The Pacers made it 4-2 in the sixth on an rbi hit by Kaylee Ruiz that drove in Miller.  In the 7th, Miller would drive in Jones to make the score 4-3. Hill and Miller stole 2nd and 3rd with 2 outs but were stranded on a groundout to short that ended the game.

Leaders for SL were Hill 2-4, SB, Miller 3-4, 2 runs, 1 rbi, SB and Ruiz 1-2, RBI. Kelsey Hill took the loss throwing 7 innings, 2 ER, 6 hits, 0 BB and 7 strikeouts.  Kat Schmier got the win in the circle going 7, 7 hits, 2ER 1 BB, 4 HBP, 11 K

Shoreland is now 8-3 and 6-2 in the MCC and Racine Lutheran 8-5, 5-1 in the MCC.

"We had some threats throughout the game but at the end of the day they made one more play than us.  I am pleased that for the 3rd time this season my girls showed the guts to battle from behind trailing in the 6th inning or later. I tell them the season is like a mountain with peaks and valleys.  Our goal is to just keep climbing to that peak at the end of the season."
