Behind the two-hit pitching and hitting of Junior Casey Fountain the Pumas beat Lakeside Lutheran today 10-0. All State third sacker Ashley Hellenbrand laced a first-inning grand slam over the centerfield gate to break the game open soon after it had started. Hellenbrand added single as well.
Fountain allowed two hits, walked none an struck out 10, nine of whom went down swinging. She also ripped a pair of doubles. Junior second sacker Brianna Kowald went 2x3 with a first-inning leadoff triple and a double in the third inning. She also stole two bloop singles from the Warriors with two excellent running catches out into the outfield. Junior Lucy Cuff had a a pair of safeties one of which was a first-inning double to send Fountain sprinting home. Junior Lizzie Schwenn added a single and rbi while other Pumas getting safe hits in the 10-hit attack were: Peyton Kingsland with a first inning single.
The Pumas are now 13-0 and 5-0.
